Closing the Online Gender Gap
Did you know that there are four times more Wikipedia biographies about men than women? Or that only 20% of those who edit Wikipedia pages are women? Join us on Tuesday, 25th February as CodeOp and Wikimedia España team up to explore the important topic of gender biases online followed by a workshop on how to become a Wikipedia editor.
Wikimedia España: Wikimedia España is a non-profit association that promotes free knowledge through 13 Wikimedia projects, Wikipedia being the best known of them. Founded in 2011, its work focuses on improving access to knowledge and enhancing the use and collaboration with Wikipedia and its sister projects. Their ultimate goal for their Wikipedia project is achieving a more egalitarian Wikipedia in terms of participation and content. This would mean more women editing the encyclopedia and more content about notable women and their legacy.
CodeOp: From San Francisco to Barcelona, CodeOp is a women-led coding school that supports the advancement of women, trans, and gender-nonconforming individuals in tech. With campuses in Barcelona and Kuala Lumpur, we offer bootcamp-style courses in Full Stack Development and Data Analytics.
